...but that someone from Nettetal near Mönchengladbach starts a world career is a little bit unbelievable, but true! The fact a boy from the Niederrhein produces pop melody's which are globally recognized through clubs and charts is one of the big success stories of German pop music. Now, after sixteen years of big success and 18 million international sold CD's, all hits came together on one album: SASH!- Best Of (10th Anniversary). All 'Best Of' songs entered the charts around the world each ranking in- or close to the top ten positions. SASH! was introducted to the 'Business-Class' of the charts where normally only Madonna, Ricky Martin or U2 were seen in the top spots. Front man Sascha Lappessen was born in June 1970 in Nettetal near Mönchengladbach. At the tender age of six, Sascha had joined SC Lobberich. At twelve he scored 65 goals in just one season, and received an attractive offer from Borussia Mönchengladbach. His father put a stop to this professional soccer career by refusing to take his son to training sessions far off several times a week. Therefore, Sascha was homebound spending lots of his free time fooling around a musical organ, which he had received as a present at the age of nine. Smart and sassy, he soon discovered that he was able to increase his pocket money with his musical talent. Each year he went on a skiing holiday with his parents and he found out to his delight that the other hotel guests would give generous tips as soon as he started playing little songs on his organ. After a professional training as power electronics engineer, Sascha worked as a light-jockey and disc-jockey in a big club in Germany. Soon after, he met his future production partners Thomas Alisson and Ralf Kappmeier. The first song in 1994 of this three friends was called 'CARECA-INDIAN RAVE'. After a small success they met up again one year later and started a new song under a new name. SASH! was born! The first single 'IT'S MY LIFE' came out in 1995 and became straight a club hit all over Europe. But the big breakthrough came with 'ENCORE UNE FOIS' in 1996. A perfect mix of progressive house, trance beats, and of course pop sounds. After this, one hit came after the other.

The SASH! Team worked with a lot of different vocalists like Adrian Rodriguez, Shannon, Tina Cousins, Dr. Alban, Sarah Brightman and Boy George, Shayne Ward and Christina Novelli, Gabry Ponte, R3HAB & Inna. They worked in many different languages like Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese or African. SASH! Is not only successful in Europe but also internationally in countries such as USA (diverse number one hits in the Hot 100 Billboard Dance Charts) in New Zealand, Russia, Australia, South Africa and Japan. Because of the good sound of the SASH! Productions, numerous famous artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, 2 Unlimited, Todd Terry, OMD or Kylie Minogue asked to remix their songs. His latest 'Greatest Hits' Album again reached platinum status in United Kingdom. 2023 will promise to become a big SASH! year with new music. Like in the tradition with all the big producers; Sascha Lappessen is still a person who does not feel at home in VIP Partys and all the glamor. Sasha is enjoying his perfect form of glory: living in silence, in his new house with swimming pool and sauna. Not in big cities as London, New York or Monte Carlo... but in the comfort of the small city of Viersen.
